MRSP SPRING BREAK DAY CAMP

Mississippi River State Park is preparing for the return of their “No Boundaries” Spring Break Day Camp! They hope to host 20 local 3rd – 5th grade students from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. starting Monday, March 20th and ending on Friday, March 24th. With the help of AmeriCorps NCCC, they hope to inspire personal connections with public lands and strengthen campers’ interest and skills in natural resource stewardship. Daily programming will be centered around activities and opportunities to experience and enjoy the outdoors: hiking, kayaking, creating nature inspired art are just a few examples. They are looking for community sponsors to help make this camp as accessible as they can. The Clothes Closet of First Baptist Church, 507 North Rosser St. Forrest City will be opened Saturday, March 25th from 9 a.m. until 12 noon with FREE Clothes for men, women and Children in most sizes. Everyone is welcome! 

EACC PRESENTS TANYA TUCKER

East Arkansas Community College will present GRAMMY® award-winning country legend Tanya Tucker on Saturday, March 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the EACC Fine Arts Center. Community Health Fair

FCAA Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host its 2nd Annual Community Health Fair on March 25, 2023,  from 9 am-1 pm at the Technology Center of the Delta located at 1790 North Falls Blvd in Wynne, AR. There will be free health screenings, educational resources, vaccinations, emergency preparedness information, door prizes, fun activities, and more for all!!   This event is free and open to everyone! 

Outside Tent Gospel Singing

An outside tent gospel singing event will be held Sunday (3/26) at 3 p.m. at Twin Assembly of God Church in Palestine. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Forrest City Farmers Market

The Forrest City Farmers Market will host its annual vendor and volunteer meeting Tuesday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m., at the city hall. All interested vendors and volunteers are encouraged to attend. FCSD Gifted and Talented Program Information Meetings

The Forrest City School District will hold Gifted and Talented Program Parent Information Meetings on Tuesday, March 28, and Tuesday, April 4.

The meeting on March 28, is for the parents of 3rd through 8th grade students. It will be held at 5 p.m. in the Stewart Elementary School Cafeteria. Refreshments will be served.

The Meeting on April 4th will be for the parents of FCHS students. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the FCHS Library and refreshments will be served.

CHICKEN AND DUMPLING DAY

The Colt Community Development Corporation will sponsor their 29th annual Chicken and Dumpling Day on Saturday, April 1st from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (or until they run out of dumplings). Plates are $6.00 and will include a generous serving of chicken and dumplings, slaw, roll, and dessert.  Please come and join us at the historic William Stone House in Colt. CRAWFISHIN' IN THE PARK

It’s time for crawfish! The Caldwell Fire Department’s 2023 fundraiser, Crawfishin’ in the Park, will be held Saturday, April 8th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with pick up at the Caldwell Community Center parking lot.  Tickets are $25 each and includes 3 lbs. crawfish, taters, corn, sausages and the fixins. Delta Cultural Center in Helena Presents "1968 Folsom Redemption Exhibit"

The 1968 Folsom Redemption Exhibit will open on April 6, 2023. This new exhibit will run from April 6 – May 25, 2023, at the DCC Visitor Center. It consists of a collection of photographs and memories of the historic Johnny Cash concerts at Folsom Prison in 1968. It proved to be a turning point for the career of Johnny Cash. There will also be a concert celebrating Johnny Cash on May 12 featuring Cecil Yancy and C.W. Gatlin at the Cherry Street Pavilion.

Delta Cultural Center in Helena Presents Civil War Roundtable of the Delta

Civil War Roundtable of the Delta featuring George Pettigrew of the Alexander/ Madison Chapter of the Kansas City Buffalo Soldiers at the Miller Annex on April 13, 2023, at 6 p.m. He tells the story of Isaac Johnson and reflects on the role of African Americans in the Civil War.

IRS Certified Volunteers Free Tax Preparation will once again be offered at the Forrest City Public Library through April 13th. This program offers FREE tax preparation and filing for households making $73,000 or less. Lee County's National Superhero Day

Calling all Superheroes! Each year, National Superhero Day honors superheroes, both real and fictional. This year National Superhero Day is on Friday, April 28th, however Lee County is celebrating on Saturday, April 15th  . There will be a parade at noon starting at Atkins Park. The event will then transition to the Marianna Civic Center from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. located at 593 State Hwy 243 Marianna. KXJK/KBFC Bass Classic

EACC PRESENTS KANSAS IN CONCERT

Arkansas State Police Troop D driver's testing for Skills will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The written exam will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information call 870-633-1454. You will need an original copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. You can purchase a photo ID for $5 at the Revenue Office, this is just an option, and NOT something you have to do. Either way you MUST have a photo ID.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VETS

The Disabled Arkansas Veterans is providing transportation to area veterans from St. Francis County to the VA in Little Rock. The van will pick up veterans every Monday and Wednesday at the Shell station on Holiday Drive in Forrest City at 7:05 a.m. and the Love's truck stop in Palestine at around 7:10 a.m. To reserve a spot or get more information please call 870-932-1052.

OUTREACH PROGRAM
