FCSD Back to School Open House

AUG 15th

The Forrest City School District will be holding its Open House for all grades including ABC Preschool on Aug 15th from 4-7 PM.

 

Good Hope Baptist Church Fish Fry

AUG 16

Good Hope Baptist Church on SFC 311 will host a fish fry with all the fixins, Saturday, August 16th from 5-7 p.m., dine-in or carry out. The event will also feature music and a bake sale. Tickets are $15 each and are available from any church member. Proceeds will go toward needed repairs at the church.

 

Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church Back to School Crusade and Community Outreach

The Lane Chapel C. M E will hold its Back to School Crusade and Community Outreach
this Saturday, August 16th from 10:00 a m to 2:00 p m. Helping all Kids in the community, they will have school supplies to give away along with plenty of food, fun games and a Bouncy house.

Honoring Mother Ernestine Weaver

AUG 17

Williams Temple Church of God in Christ will be honoring Mother Ernestine Weaver on Sunday, August 17th at 2:30 p.m. at the Thomas Wellness Center. Special guests will be Pastor Lincoln Barnett and the Salem Baptist Church family. The public is invited to attend.

UA-EACC will host Wynne Center Community Open House

AUG 19

The University of Arkansas-East Arkansas Community College will host a Wynne Center Community Open House on Tuesday, August 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the UA-EACC Wynne Center. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about UA-EACC’s new programs at the Wynne Center, complete applications, meet with admissions and academic advisors, receive information from financial aid and assistance with completing the FAFSA, and register for fall classes. Registration for the Fall semester continues and classes begin on Monday, August 25th. The complete schedule of classes is available online at EACC.edu.  UA-EACC’s Wynne Center is located at 1790 N. Lee County School District Title I & V Meeting

The Lee County School District will present their annual Title I and Title V meeting, Tuesday, August 19th at 5:30 p.m. at Lee High School. Topics of discussion will include the district’s Title I designation status, School-wide Improvement Plan, Flexible Learning Program and the Parent Involvement Program.

 

American Red Cross Blood Drive @Forrest City Medical Center

AUG 20

There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive Wednesday, August 20th at the Forrest City Medical Center In-Service Classroom starting at 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter: ForrestCityMedicalCenter to schedule an appointment. Give Aug 1 through the 28th for a $15 e gift card & successful donations get A1C testing.

Rotary Club BINGO Scholarship Fundraiser

AUG 21

Join in on the fun at the Mississippi River State Park Visitor Center starting at 6 pm for BINGO, food, over $500 in prizes and fun. A Marianna Rotary bingo caller will guide you through multiple rounds of the classic game. Proceeds go towards a scholarship fund for Lee County. A grilled dinner and snacks served. Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas to Host USDA Food Distributions in St. Francis County

AUG 21

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas will host multiple USDA food distributions in St. Francis County on Thursday, August 21st  at the times listed or until food runs out at the following locations: Larry S. Bryant Wellness Center & Sports Complex and Palestine City Hall. Households are eligible to receive USDA foods once per month and must reside in St. Francis County. For more information about the distribution of USDA foods or questions concerning eligibility for this program, contact Natalie Neal at the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas by calling 870-932-3663.

 

Ridgewood Baptist Church Benefit for Vita Finch

Saturday, August 23rd  Ridgewood Baptist Church in Forrest City will host a Benefit Drive Through Fish Fry/Chicken Strip dinner for Vita Finch. The $15 plate meal will be from 3 to 6 pm. FCHS Class of 1980 High School Class Reunion

The Forrest City High School Class of 1980 will have their 45th “Back Down Memory Lane” high school reunion, August 29-30. The event will feature entertainment by Trio Plus from Memphis during the Banquet/Prom night on Aug 30th. For more Information, contact Allen Glen Jones at 240-515-1361.

 

Fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital

There will be a fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going to St. Jude’s Research Hospital on Saturday, August 30th starting at 9:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Big Hays in Wynne. Lemonade stand with cookies and sweets. All donations accepted. Contact Casey Qualls for more information.

Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet

SEPT 5

The Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025 has been announced.  This year’s Hall of Fame Banquet Friday, September 5th , prior to the home game against longtime rival Wynne with tickets available at several locations throughout Forrest City. The Banquet will again be held at the Forrest City High School Cafeteria this year. Tickets for the banquet will go on sale August 15th and will be available at Cedric Williams State Farm Office, Delta Office Works, the High School Principal’s office, and the Forrest City Area Chamber of Commerce. Inaugural Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame and Rumble on the Ridge Golf Tournament

The Inaugural Forrest Cit Athletic Hall of Fame and Rumble on the Ridge Golf Tournament will be Saturday, September 6th at the Forrest City Country Club. A 4-Ma Scramble, $400 per team $100 per individual event will have an 8AM Shotgun start. For more information go to rumbleontheridgefc.com

Par for the Patriots Golf Tournament

The Palestine-Wheatley Booster Club will present the “Par for the Patriots” Golf Tournament, September 6th at Ridgecrest Country Club in Forrest City.
