WALK WITH EASE

Walk with ease and say yes to your health! Walking can help you gain all the benefits of exercise from weight loss to enhanced well-being for mature adults. Walk With Ease is a fun and easy, 6-week program that includes: a certified walking leader, a walking guidebook, and a free mobile app. This will take place until May 22 at 9:15 AM until 10:15 AM at the Marvel United Methodist Church, in Marvell, Arkansas. JOLLY ELDERS

KAYAK TOUR OF BEAR CREEK LAKE

Join us Saturday, May 21st for a Kayak Tour of Bear Creek Lake. The meeting place is the Bear Creek Lake Swim Beach at 2PM and will last until 3PM. Kayaking is a great way to experience Bear Creek Lake. You can check out little coves for wildlife or just enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Crowley’s Ridge. All skill levels welcome. We will cover basic paddling techniques before we get started and make sure everyone is comfortable in their kayak. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Register by calling the visitor center at (870) 295-4040. Admission: Adults $15, Ages 8 – 12 $7.50.

RUN FOR THE WALL

Ridgeway Baptist Church is hosting Run for the Wall Sunday, May 22. This is an annual cross-country motorcycle ride that  honors our veterans. It also hopes to educate future generations of the importance of accountability of wartime actions emphasizing that no one should be left behind. They encourage all of Forrest City to come out and show your patriotism and support. Help promote healing for our veterans by lining the streets and showing your appreciation as the RFTW passes through Forrest City.

COMMUNITY JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Community Jazz Festival will be held Saturday, July 2nd from 3:30 PM till 5:00 PM on the patio of the Legacy Restaurant in downtown Forrest City, AR.

MIGHTYMIGHY TRIATHLON

The 39th Annual Mightymite Triathlon will be held Saturday, July 16th, at 8:00am in Forrest City, AR. This is a 1/3 mile swim - 13 mile bike - 3 mile run. The meeting place is at EACC. If you would like to register online go to https://mightymitetri.raceroster.com

DRIVER'S TESTING AT TROOP D

Arkansas State Police Troop D driver's testing for Skills will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The written exam will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information call 870-633-1454. You will need an original copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. You can purchase a photo ID for $5 at the Revenue Office, this is just an option, and NOT something you have to do. Either way you MUST have a photo ID.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VETS

The Disabled Arkansas Veterans is providing transportation to area veterans from St. Francis County to the VA in Little Rock. The van will pick up veterans every Monday and Wednesday at the Shell station on Holiday Drive in Forrest City at 7:05 a.m. and the Love's truck stop in Palestine at around 7:10 a.m. To reserve a spot or get more information please call 870-932-1052.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

EVERY MONDAY NIGHT

The Oak Hill Church of God, 97 SFC 309, will host Monday Night Outreach each week, a free support group for people struggling with depression, grief, loneliness, or addiction. A complimentary meal is served at 5:30p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30p.m. For more information, call 870-633-7331.

DRIVER'S LICENSE CLASSES

Classes for an Arkansas Driver's License are held each Thursday at the Lee County Courthouse. The driving portion is at 9 a.m., and the written exam is given at 1:00 p.m.

Forrest City Landfill will give away free mulch on the first Saturday of every month, from 7:00 to noon, weather permitting.
