EACC 2023-24 Entertainment Season

The 2023-24 entertainment season has been unveiled and as usual features country and pop/rock individuals and groups that have sold millions of records. It starts off with country artist Clay Walker on September 30, then pop group Orleans will be here November 4th. Country group Diamond Rio will be at the Fine Arts Center in March. April and May will be busy with iconic rock n roll group Grand Funk Railroad performing on April 20th and REO Speedwagon on May 3rd. Season packages are on sale now. Chance for a Change

Chance for a Change will be providing after-school balanced meal giveaways Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm pick up only for children ages 2 through 18 at the Sports Complex. 

Crowley’s Ridge Saddle Club 2023 Charity PRCA Rodeo

SEPT 15-16

The Crowley’s Ridge Saddle Club 2023 Charity PRCA Rodeo will be Friday and Saturday September 15th and 16th starting at 7:30 pm with gates opening at 6:00 pm nightly at the Wiley T. Jones Fairgrounds in Forrest City. Advance tickets are $9.00 and $10 at the gate. Children under 10 are free with a paid adult. There will be nightly door prices from local sponsors with Funny Man and clown Trent McFarland. Opening program both nights will honor our military veterans. Everyone is invited to attend!

Everyone is encouraged to attend the St. Francis County Town Hall Meeting regarding the funding received from Arkansas Rural Connect for the Broadband Internet in St. Francis County. Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Sept 22

The Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2023 has been announced. The inductees will be recognized at a banquet at the Fine Arts Center at EACC before the September 22nd Mustang game against Batesville Southside. This year’s inductees include the Lincoln High School undefeated Tigers football team and Ronald Williams who played at Lincoln. From Forrest City High School prior to 1970 the inductees are Johnny McDaniel and the late Walter Gene Prewitt. From the modern era of after 1970 the inductees are Chris Williams, Cassandra Jackson Taylor, Barney Freeman, and Ryan Green. A meritorious award will be presented to the family of the late Raoul Carlisle, a nationally known sportswriter who lived in Forrest City. Tickets for the September 22nd banquet are $20 and available at Cedric Williams State Farm Insurance office, The Forrest City Area Chamber of Commerce office, and Delta Office Works.

In addition to the banquet the inductees or family members will meet for a private luncheon at Forrest City Country Club, speak to this year’s Mustang football team, and be introduced to the crowd at halftime of that night’s game at Mustang Stadium.

Junior Auxiliary of St. Francis County 4th Annual Golf Tournament

The 4th Annual Golf Tournament to raise money for the Junior Auxiliary of St. Francis County will be held Saturday, September 23rd at Ridgecrest Country Club located 264 SFC 310 Forrest City. The 3- man scramble will be $375 per team. Sign in @ 12:30 pm, Tee time @ 1:00 pm, and Dinner @ 6:00 pm. Cash Prizes for each flight. 2023 Cotton Picking Festival

SEPT 29 – 30

The 20th Annual Caldwell Cotton Picking Festival is Friday and Saturday, September 29th and 30th. On Saturday the pancake breakfast starts at 10:00 am and the Cotton Pickin contest will start at 1:00 pm. Other activities include a pet parade, kid’s games, local bands, a pageant, food, raffle, auction and so much more. For more information call 870-494-5132 or 870-261-2872. 

TRI-County Fair

SEPT 29 – OCT 3

The TRI-County Fair is fast approaching. The carnival will open on Wednesday, September 29th through Saturday, October 2nd. The Power Wheel Derby and Demolition Derby will be Saturday, Oct 2nd. This year they will have the traditional pageants starting on Saturday, September 23rd and again on Wednesday, September 27th. The fair will also have exhibit buildings, talent show, games, food and music in addition to the carnival and derby. For more information contact Barbie Washburn @ 870-829-1001.

Autumn On The Square

This year’s AOTS will be Saturday, September 30th. Lots of events are being planned and vendor spots are available. Applications can be picked up at the library or text 870-821-2666 and one can be emailed to you. You can also preorder a Festival T-shirt. King Biscuit Blues Festival

FCHS CLASS OF '83 40th Class Reunion

The Forrest City High School class of 1983 is getting ready to celebrate their 40th Class Reunion. First United Methodist Women present their Biannual Community Sale

The event will be from 8:00 am until 12 noon on Saturday, October 7th at the church parking lot, located on South Izard St. in Forrest City. Booth spaces are available for $20 per space, $10 for any extra space per customer. A limited number may also sign up for electricity for an extra $15. Run to the Park 5K

The city of Colt is having a 5K Run and 1 mile walk race to help raise money for the playground equipment for Colt city park. SFC Master Gardeners Annual Seminar

The St. Francis County Master Gardeners will host their annual seminar in October at the Woodruff Electric Cooperative’s headquarters on the Highway 1 Bypass. This year’s seminar will feature several speakers including Sherri Sanders, Randy Forst, Teresa Shannon, Jo Patterson and Joan Collier. Registration forms may be picked up at the Extension Service and registration may be done in person. Forms can also be mailed to SFC Master Gardeners, c/o Linda Boren, 8830 Hwy 284, Forrest City, AR 72335. Registration fee prior to Oct. 1 is $30 and at the door $35. Seating is limited so register early to attend.

Relay For Life of Delta

Make it Pink Health Fair

Monday, October 23rd  starting at 11:00 am at the Forrest City Medical Center employee parking lot (past the helicopter) will be a Community Health Fair hosted by Forrest City Medical Center. Free health screenings, door prices and fun! There will be tons of community resources, which are free of charge as well. WOODRUFF ELECTRIC SPONSORS HOLIDAY GREETING CARD CONTEST

Woodruff Electric encourages elementary students (K through Fifth grade) to submit a holiday greeting card design. Students that attend a private, public or home school in the counties of Woodruff, Cross, Monroe, St. Francis, Lee or Phillips or in the town of Des Arc are eligible to participate. Students are allowed to use any medium or combination of medium, which includes a drawing, crayons, watercolor, oil, acrylic paint, pastel, chalk, etc. The designs should be on an 8 1/2” x 11” paper and in a horizontal (landscape) format. The winning artwork design will be used for the Official 2023 Woodruff Electric Holiday greeting card and will receive a certificate commemorating their achievement and a gift card. Complete rules and entry forms are available at www.woodruffelectric.com or at any of Woodruff Electric’s office locations. The deadline to enter the contest is October 31st.

Arkansas State Police Troop D driver's testing for Skills will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The written exam will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information call 870-633-1454. You will need an original copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. You can purchase a photo ID for $5 at the Revenue Office, this is just an option, and NOT something you have to do. Either way you MUST have a photo ID.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VETS

The Disabled Arkansas Veterans is providing transportation to area veterans from St. Francis County to the VA in Little Rock. The van will pick up veterans every Monday and Wednesday at the Shell station on Holiday Drive in Forrest City at 7:05 a.m. and the Love's truck stop in Palestine at around 7:10 a.m. To reserve a spot or get more information please call 870-932-1052.

OUTREACH PROGRAM
