ABC SCHOOL REGISTRATION

The ABC Preschool is taking applications for the next school year (2022-2023) daily from 9AM until 3PM. Registration is for the following: Toddlers-18 months by August 1st, Three-Year-Old Program-Age 3 by August 1st, Four-Year-Old Program-Age 4 by August 1st. The following documents are required at registration: Birth Certificate, Shot Record, Up-to-Date Physical, Up-to-Date Immunizations, Social Security Card. AR CATTLEMEN ASSOCIATION

The AR Cattlemen Association (Eastern District) will have a meeting Thursday, July 28 at 7PM. They will meet at the Country Kitchen at the Forrest City Fairgrounds.

FORREST CITY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES OF 1971 & 1972 50TH REUNION

REGISTRATION DEADLINE (AUGUST 1)

OCTOBER 21-22

The Forrest City High School Classes of 1971 and 1972 will have their 50th high school reunion on Friday, October 21, at the St. Francis County Museum and Saturday, October 22, at the Forrest City Country Club. There will be live entertainment both nights. Local hotels have discounted prices for the event, if you mention, Class of 72 Reunion, when booking. Friday night will include meet and greet, a BBQ plate with all the fixings, beer, wine, tea, or lemonade. The cost for Friday is $25. Saturday will include dinner with 2 cocktails (wine, beer, soft drinks etc.) buffet w/ salad, several meats, multiple sides, and desserts. There will also be live entertainment and dancing. There will be a back-to-school fair held Saturday, August 6th from 9AM till 12PM at the Dwight Lofton Arena. This is for Forrest City School District students only. DRIVER'S TESTING AT TROOP D

Arkansas State Police Troop D driver's testing for Skills will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The written exam will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information call 870-633-1454. You will need an original copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. You can purchase a photo ID for $5 at the Revenue Office, this is just an option, and NOT something you have to do. Either way you MUST have a photo ID.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VETS

MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY

The Disabled Arkansas Veterans is providing transportation to area veterans from St. Francis County to the VA in Little Rock. The van will pick up veterans every Monday and Wednesday at the Shell station on Holiday Drive in Forrest City at 7:05 a.m. and the Love's truck stop in Palestine at around 7:10 a.m. To reserve a spot or get more information please call 870-932-1052.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

EVERY MONDAY NIGHT

The Oak Hill Church of God, 97 SFC 309, will host Monday Night Outreach each week, a free support group for people struggling with depression, grief, loneliness, or addiction. A complimentary meal is served at 5:30p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30p.m. For more information, call 870-633-7331.

The Alzheimer's Support Program of East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging will host its monthly support group meeting on Thursday, November 8, starting at noon at Forrest City Medical Center. For more information call 870-494-3300. Meetings are held every second Thursday of the month.

DRIVER'S LICENSE CLASSES

Classes for an Arkansas Driver's License are held each Thursday at the Lee County Courthouse. The driving portion is at 9 a.m., and the written exam is given at 1:00 p.m.

THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH

Forrest City Landfill will give away free mulch on the first Saturday of every month, from 7:00 to noon, weather permitting.

KAYAK TOUR OF BEAR CREEK LAKE

JULY 23

Join us Saturday, July 23rd for a Kayak Tour of Bear Creek Lake. The meeting place is the Bear Creek Lake Swim Beach at 9AM and will last until 10:15 AM. Kayaking is a great way to experience Bear Creek Lake. You can check out little coves for wildlife or just enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Crowley’s Ridge. All skill levels welcome. We will cover basic paddling techniques before we get started and make sure everyone is comfortable in their kayak. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Register by calling the visitor center at (870) 295-4040. Admission: Adults $15, Ages 8 – 12 $7.50.
