St. Francis County has released the dates and location of the yearly countywide cleanup. The 30-yard dumpsters will be placed at these locations from Friday through Sunday night with pickup being on Monday morning. The locations and dates are below:

Autism Workshop @ Forrest City Public Library

The Forrest City Public Library is hosting a workshop on Autism with Renee Holmes, RN, Director of Autism Services of Partners for Inclusive Communities on Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Breakfast and daycare will be provided but you must RSVP by Tuesday, April 23rd. This workshop will cover what Autism is, support for individuals with Autism and Sensory Differences and information about the Autism waiver and the Arkansas Autism Resource and Outreach Center. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Turn in your unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, April 27th  at the Lee County Cooperative Clinic starting at 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. The clinic is located at 530 West Atkins Blvd. in Marianna. If you have any questions, please call 870- 295-5225.

Mary Anne’s Art Walk

The Cross County Arts Council is hosting Mary Anne’s Art Walk, Saturday, April 27 at the Cross County Library 3-6 pm. The event will feature local artists in 11 businesses in Downtown Wynne. Tickets are $10 and include snacks and beverages at each downtown business. Nutrish Queen and Hog-Wild Quessenberry BBQ Food Truck will be open for food. There will be door prizes, music by Eli Adams and Sunburn at the Wynne Splash Pad. The walk will begin at the Cross County Library with drawings at the Merriman later in the day. Haynes Baptist Church Homecoming

Haynes Baptist Church will be having their Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, April 28th. Sunday School will start at 10:00 am, Church service starts at 11:00 am and singing will start around 1:00 pm. Forrest City Farmers Market Vender/Volunteer Meeting

April 30

The Forrest City Farmers Market (FCFM) committee will host a meeting on Tuesday, April 30th at 1:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Forrest City’s City Hall to prepare for the local market to open later this summer. Local farmers, vendors and crafters are encouraged to attend as well as anyone wanting to volunteer on Saturday Mornings throughout the market season. Applications will be available to complete to become a vendor. They are also looking for musical acts to play during the market. The FCFM is tentatively scheduled to open on June 1. First United Methodist Women in Faith Community Yard Sale

The First United Methodist Women in Faith Community Yard Sale will be Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 am until Noon at the First United Methodist Church Parking Lot located at 101 S. Izard St. in Forrest City. Booth spaces are available for $20 per space, $10 for any extra space per customer. A limited number may also sign up for electricity for an extra $15 dollars. Louis Jordan Jazz on the River Concert

Celebrate the legacy of jazz legend Louis Jordan at the inaugural Louis Jordan Jazz on the River Concert, hosted by the Delta Cultural Center. Join them on May 10, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Cherry Street Pavilion in Helena-West Helena, for an evening filled with music by talented Arkansas jazz artists. The concert is free, with no reserved seating, so bring your chairs or blankets and find a spot in front of the Cherry Street Pavilion. Food and beverage trucks will be on-site, along with local restaurant options nearby. There will be an afterparty at Delta Dirt Distillery. 7th Annual Beans, Greens and Cornbread Contest

Join the Delta Cultural Center (DCC) for a celebration of Southern culinary traditions at the 7th Annual Beans, Greens, and Cornbread Contest. The event will be held on May 11, 2024, at the DCC Depot Museum in Helena-West Helena from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Delta Eagle Room at 95 Missouri Street. Participation is free, and they encourage you to register in advance, although you can also enter up until 9:30 a.m. on the day of the contest. Lee County Regional Job Fair

Forrest City Country Club 2 Man Scramble

Forrest City Country Club will host a 2 Man Scramble Golf Tournament May 25 and 26. Play starts at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entry fee is $250 per team that includes practice round, shrimp boil dinner, Calcutta and will feature a Ducks Unlimited Silent Auction fundraiser! The Auxiliary at Forrest City Medical Center is seeking new volunteers. If you have a giving heart and would like to devote some time volunteering, they would be happy to have you on board. Their infamous "pink ladies", keep the hospital gift shop running smoothly, raise money for scholarships for local healthcare students, host fund raisers, health fairs, as well as help with hosting several events within the hospital. Arkansas State Police Troop D driver's testing for Skills will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The written exam will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For more information call 870-633-1454. You will need an original copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. You can purchase a photo ID for $5 at the Revenue Office, this is just an option, and NOT something you have to do. Either way you MUST have a photo ID.

TRANSPORTATION FOR VETS

The Disabled Arkansas Veterans is providing transportation to area veterans from St. Francis County to the VA in Little Rock. The van will pick up veterans every Monday and Wednesday at the Shell station on Holiday Drive in Forrest City at 7:05 a.m. and the Love's truck stop in Palestine at around 7:10 a.m. To reserve a spot or get more information please call 870-932-1052.

OUTREACH PROGRAM

Classes for an Arkansas Driver's License are held each Thursday at the Lee County Courthouse. The driving portion is at 9 a.m., and the written exam is given at 1:00 p.m.
